I have been using the one size Wahmies hook style diaper on Eva since she was born. It fit her even at her tiny newborn size (about 6 pounds when she was a few days old since she lost weight the first week). Most other one size diapers did not fit her at that stage. She is now 15 or so pounds and in a medium diaper. The Wahmies One Size still fits her well. It has also held up beautifully to washing. The inner lining is a polyester velour, unlike the suedecloth or microfleece that is commonly used in cloth diapers. The velour does not pill at all, so it still looks nearly new. The velour also resists staining better than microfleece.
My only complaint about this diaper is that the pocket opening is smaller than I like. I prefer to have a huge pocket opening. The plus side is that a smaller pocket keeps inserts in better, but I like to have a little more room for stuffing.
I have had this diaper on my 36 pound niece (who is in a size 6 in disposables). She wore it overnight for two nights and had no leaks at all. I stuffed it with a Little for Now hemp prefold and a microfiber insert.
Some people are intimidated by the hooks. I actually like them as they make a really trim fitting diaper. They are flat and don’t add extra bulk as snaps or velcro style diapers can. However, if you really don’t like the hooks, Wahmies also makes the same diaper with all snaps. Snaps are not quite as adjustable as the hooks, but they are both great diapers.
Below is a video showing how to use the Wahmies One Size diaper with hooks.
