Rocky Mountain Diapers one size diapers are adjustable to fit babies from newborn to about 30 pounds. Rocky Mountain Diapers one size diapers are are very cute and very high quality. They are a relative newcomer on the one-size cloth diaper scene, but their easy to adjust leg-elastic is sure to make them a hit.
The adjustable leg elastic sets these diapers apart from front-snap adjusting diapers or fold down one size diapers. FuzziBunz one size (soon to be launched) and Evolution diapers are two that use similar leg adjusting elastic to create a one size diaper.
The elastic inside the leg casings offers 4 different snap settings to take your baby from X-Small (5 pounds or so) through Large (30 pounds). To adjust the diaper, you just reach inside the pocket opening and pull up the elastic. Then snap the elastic at the setting you prefer. No need to adjust the settings until your baby grows into the next size.
Reaching into the pocket is not quite as easy as it could be, the pocket openings are sufficient but not huge. This is fine for most women, but might mean that dad leaves adjusting the leg elastic to mom. Since that is probably going to happen in most families anyway, it is not a big deal. The pocket opening is inside the back of the diaper just below the waist elastic. There is no cover over the opening, but we had no problem with the inserts staying in place.
This adjustable leg elastic makes it easy to fit these diapers on even a very small newborn. Rocky Mountain Diapers have a snug fit around the legs and no added bulk in the front. The leg adjusting elastic will be most convenient for one child, and may be less convenient if you are using the same diapers on more than one size child as they would need to be adjusted each time. The leg casings create a ruffled effect on the legs when set on smaller sizes. The smaller the size setting, the more ruffly the legs. This can help hold in messes and didn’t create a problem with putting clothes on over the diapers.
Rocky Mountain Diapers are pocket diapers so you can add stuff them. They do not come with an insert. Most common sizes of inserts will fit. We use either a Wahmies insert or a Little for Now insert. The outer is polyurethane laminate (PUL) and the inside stay-dry lining is wonderfully soft suedecloth. Rocky Mountain Diapers come in several different colors with contrasting suedecloth inner lining colors. I love suedecloth lined diapers because they feel dryer inside than fleece diapers and they resist staining better than other synthetic lined diapers. The suedecloth inside is cuddly soft! My tester extraordinaire is wearing a pink grapefruit with lemon diaper.
