Baby Beehinds sent us a one-size hemp and organic cotton cloth diaper for review. Even better, they are offering TWO of you the chance to try one! Details are below.
I love hemp diapers. I know some people complain about hemp developing odors, but in my experience the hemp smells when my other diapers smell and it is just fine when the other diapers are smelling great. I have hemp inserts, hemp all in ones, hemp prefolds, and hemp fitted diapers. I love them all. My little one has been peeing floods lately. Her schedule got thrown off when she was sick a few weeks ago and now she wants bottles all day (and all night) and is refusing most foods. Translation, trim and absorbent diapers are a good thing! Hemp makes a super absorbent diaper. Baby Beehinds makes a trim hemp diaper.
I love this diaper. I have used it every wash cycle for months now, and it is holding up beautifully. It has gotten a tiny bit stiff since we have rock hard well water (seriously, we have awful water!), but it is still plenty soft enough for comfort.
Inside this fitted diaper are two snap in soakers. I love snap in soakers since I hate finding diaper parts in the laundry (since we have one of every diaper, it is like solving a puzzle to put our diapers back together lately). Since these soakers snap in, they dry very fast, and they never get lost.
For a newborn you could remove both soakers for a trimmer fit, then add them back in as needed. For my little Niagara, they are fabulous, even for daytime. One soaker is thin and one is long, so you can fold them for absorbency where you want it. Before she went on her current bottle diet, this diaper was plenty to get her through the night. No amount of stuffing in any style of diaper is holding up to her 24 ounces of milk at night habit.
Best of all, there is still room for her to grow. She is so long and thin (31 inches, 21 pounds) that she is sprouting out of most mediums and even the large setting on many one size diapers. The Baby Beehinds has tons of room to grow, but is still snug on her teeny hips without squishing her legs.
In an effort to be completely honest, I try to note anything bad about a diaper or even anything I don’t like. For this diaper, I am having a tough time coming up with anything bad. It fits great, it is absorbent, it dries fast and it is holding up to tons of washing without looking worn. Oh, and it is made with organic cotton!
